Medical SHO

Inspire Medical is recruiting Senior House Officers in Medicine for locum and fixed term positions at various locations across the country, in both HSE hospitals and private hospitals. SHO posts cover the medical wards and share the medical on-call rota, with registrar and consultant supervision.

Locum cover runs from single shifts to rolling blocks; fixed term contracts run from three months to a full six-month rotation aligned to the January and July changeovers. Salary and rates vary depending on whether the post is private or HSE — HSE posts pay on the HSE NCHD scale, private posts at the hospital’s own rate. General Registration with the Irish Medical Council is mandatory.

Medical Registrar and Consultant Physician

• Clerk medical admissions, take histories, examine and order initial investigations under registrar supervision.
• Carry out daily ward rounds, review results and act on them, and prescribe safely.
• Take part in the medical on-call rota and respond to ward calls and early warning score escalations.
• Complete discharge summaries, referral letters and clinical documentation accurately and on time.
• Supervise and support interns, and hand over safely at the start and end of every shift.

• IMC General Registration is mandatory — applications without it cannot be progressed.
• Completed internship and at least six months’ post-intern experience in hospital medicine.
• Current BLS; ACLS is an advantage.
• Right to work in Ireland, or eligibility for a Critical Skills Employment Permit — we manage the process.
• Garda vetting, occupational health clearance and two clinical references.
